help i have hard water, i guess. it leaves spots on everthing the dishes, shower doors everything. the ice almost smells like a dead rat. we are purchasing water and ice. We had a rainsoft salesman come by but we don't have $5000 for a treatement system. IS THERE ANY WAY TO SOLVE THIS OTHER THAN SPENDING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS?

You can find better equipment without the high price by searching for softeners using the Clack WS-1 or Fleck 7000SE control valves. They are industry standard (non proprietary) and if needed, you can get parts from any local or internet dealer.

Clack and Fleck are companies that manufacture water treatment equipment control valves. Water treatment dealers use them as part of a softener and/or filter. The quality of the control valve is critical to the service free operation of that type of equipment. You find water treatment dealers in your yellow pages and on the internet.
