I recently moved into a house with a detached garage. The garage has a garage door opener but the sellers did not have a car clicker and do not know the code. They don't have any information about who installed the opener. How would I find out what the code is so I can program the clicker I purchased?

First you need to identify the Make and Model of the opener.

Then you need to find the appropriate remote and then the "programing".

Some use switches in the unit and remote.

Other "sync" the two by some special proceedure.

First click on the brand on the right.

Then look for a compatability chart to ID you unit and which remote it takes.

Then look for program instructions.

Sometimes when you have to buy the remotes and a key-less entry it could be cheaper just to buy a new opener with all the stuff. If the old owners can't remember it could be out of date anyway.
