I'm attempting to remove the front access panel on my hot water heater but one of the screws just keeps turning. I was told that the threads were stripped but wouldn't I be able to pull it right out if they were stripped? What should I do?

I have tried pliers pulling while turning the left continously and have worked screws loose.

It does sound stripped. As such, you might not just be able to pull it right out. Try using some leverage to help it pull out--that might do the trick. When you go to put it all back together, use a slightly wider (the next-size-up) sheet metal screw. If this doesn't help, you might try the plumbing forum....good luck!
