I've just been told by my A/C guy that the dryer vent hood is located right behind the A/C fan and it is sucking in all the lint into the back coils. Our house was built in the 1960's and the A/C was put in by the original owner in the late 90's. Is there a type of tubing or elbow that could be used to reroute the dryer vent away from its present location?

Hello Stella, welcome!
Dryer vents are underwhelming but very important little things. Lint buildup is a fire hazard - and things like elbows and lengthening may (or may not) be possible depending on how it's currently routed.
In addition to whatever info you might receive here, you may also try the appliance forum. DanO over there may be able to look up the recommended max length and number of permissible bends for your make and model dryer.
My guess is that it probably will be possible to reroute it away from the AC unit. Definitely a good idea. Also take advantage of the moment to clean out whatever lint buildup there may be in there at the time.
In addition to lowering risk of fire, this will also help the dryer run better. Good luck!
