I have a horrible time with hanging stuff on drywall. I am trying to hang drapes. What do I need to get to keep them from coming out of the wall?

IMHO, drapes are a big pain :-)
It's best to hit into 2x4 - which will hold the weight. Failing that, check your local hardware store. There are lots of products - such as Molly Bolts or Screw Anchors - which "might" do a good job of holding the weight.
I need to hang some drapes myself soon. About my least favorite honey-do (except maybe towel bars). But they do "make the room." Or so I'm told....
