I have 3 Firex G-6 smoke detectors in my home and today the upstairs one(hardwired only) began "chirping". Freaking my dog out! LOL I removed it from the ceiling plate and it is STILL chirping in the ceiling. What should I do? The other 2 are quiet...since the units are 10 yrs old, I need to replace them anyway.

I solved my problem by replacing my alarms; they were over ten years old and were prone to chirp whenever the room temperature where they were located dropped below 50 degrees or whenever there was a power outage.

If your FireX smoke alarms are over 10 years old, it's time to replace them. The alarms are warranted for five years and each alarm has a date of manufacture on the back.

Compatible FireX model numbers are 406, 428, and 41216.
