My husband and I are planning on refinishing our kitchen. Our counter top is old formica and is in bad shape. We want to use either Granite or Corian. Which is better in long run (more durable and easy to maintain). Both are about same cost (expensive). Are they worth it? Any pros or cons? Anything you can share would be much appreciated!

Thank you,
Punky

I just renovated my kitchen. we had lod formica as well. We also questioned granite or Corian...personally, I like the look of granite better that corian. I was told that Granite is much mnore durable than Corian.

I was told that the Granite is non-porous and heat resistant. You can take a pot from the stove and put it directly on the granite...ti won't hurt it at all.

I was also told that if you do get a stain within the granit...all you need to get it out is to use some sort of wax paper and some easy solution...place it over the stain and the next day it is drawn up into the wax paper.

I personally think Granite is the way to go!

Look into Quartz also, heard it is much better than Granite, it is harder and doesnt need to be sealed, Granite does. Cambria Makes them. Comes in 32 colors, may do that in a bathrom we are planning to remodel.
