Does anyone have advice on converting a two story into a one story? We have our eye on a house on the perfect street, in the perfect neighborhood, unfortunately it is not the perfect house, it is a two story, and we need a ranch. The house is only 3 years old. Keeping the exterior facade intact, is it possible to "remove" most of the 2nd story living space and be left with high ceilings and a more open floorplan? Obviously we would build the bedrooms and baths onto the back of the house. Has anyone ever heard of this being done before?
