hi- I have heard that I am able to attached dry wall with nails to the framing which holds pipes, etc. on the top half of my basement walls and then glue the dry directly to the cement from the middle of the wall down. Has anyone heard of this? What type of adhesive would I use?

Best check local building codes. Do not think they would approve attaching directly to the cement walls without insulation. Codes vary widely so check.
