I found a wood dresser with mahogany veneer that needs to be stripped. What's the best way to do this? I am afraid sanding will do away with the mahogany and using a mixture of vinegar and water may unglue the veneer.
Are my fears correct? What is best to use?

I have refinished a lot of veneer furniture, the most recent an oak veneer china cabinet from my wife's grandparents.
I was worried about stripping away the veneer, but I just use medium to fine sandpaper and a lot of patience. I would not use any chemicals, etc., as you don't want the glue to react/come apart. The key is patience!
