I am preparing to build a new home. I have plans from my architect and the site, etc. Now I need a builder. I have a list of 12 or so names that were given to me by friends, and I picked up a few more names by stopping in new homes in the area and asking who built the home.

What are some of the questions I should ask in my initial conversation with perspective builders? Any pitfalls I should avoid?
