In my small little house we do not have enough room to put the dryer inside. So we put it in a little nook by the stairs outside with a cover over it. Do I still need to hook up a dryer vent? Even if it's just out in the open with nothing blocking it on any side? And should we be concerned about dust or dirt? It is sitting on a brick and wood platform. Please help me guys!

It should not need a vent installed if it is already outdoors but you will have to cover the vent hole with a screen or something to prevent rodents from entering it easily. Be aware that rodents (and bugs etc.) will likely still be able to enter the cabinet though other accesses so keeping a dryer outside is not advised, not to mention the moisture that will eventually effect its components and operation.
