Heres my question:
Rather than cut a hole in the wall of my house to vent the dryer, can I vent the dryer into the rafter space and allow the natural house ventilation to remove the heat? I have passive ventilation (holes in the soffit, rafter baffles, and ridge vent.)

Venting Dryer into rafter space.
I have completely finished off my attic space into a large walk-in closet and I am trying to install a washer/dryer in that area (I have provided the proper floor support and electrical/plumbing connections)
Bad idea for 2 reasons: 1) Vents excess humidity into the attic; 2) vents lint and 'stuff' into attic. Much better to cut the hole & vent outside.
I agree that moisture would likely be a major problem. A dryer exhausts a lot more moist and hot air than most passive vents would be able to evacuate in a reasonable amount of time.
