The motor that drives the "spin" is separate from the pump. Does it make any sound when it should be spinning? If so, chances are the motor is turning and not driving the tub. My Kenmore had this problem, caused by a broken plastic drive piece between the motor and the tub. I don't know the correct name for it, but it has 4 prongs that each fit into holes in a rubber device.
You'll have to lay the machine on it's back and inspect to see what's broken.
