Bought a 48" GE Monogram vent hood and the local Denver code requires that an air intake equal in size to the vent hood automatically turn on when the vent turns on. My electrician can't figure how to wire a relay switch into the vent hood so that the intake comes on only when the vent fan is on and not when the vent lights are turned on. GE customer service hasn't been any help. If anyone has on this board has experience with this situation any guidance would be welcomed.

I don't have any personal experience with whatever model you happen to have, but I believe there are air pressure switches available so tapping into the actual unit is not even required.

One such pressure switch is used on the auxiliary dryer vent fan at the following link. I don't know where you'll purchase one separately. Maybe ask someone involved in air tight houses?
