Our Kenmore Side-by-Side, model 363.9534783, will dispense water and crushed ice, but fails to drop cubes when selected. Of course, we want the cubes and nothing else...Is there a "simple fix" for this?

I doubt it. It will likely have to be looked into the find the actual cause of the problem.

You can read some information on through the door ice and water dispenser systems at the following link:

BTW. Your Kenmore model was built by G.E.

This may sound simplistic, but have you tried removing the ice container and looking down the hole from the inside of the door? There may be something partially blocking the exit that allows crushed ice to pass, but not cubes. (Sometimes a cube will get stuck.)

Yes its a GE. GE had a problem in early 90's with the micro switch behind dispenser levers. Moisture would get inside the insulation and freeze up everything. The plastic mounting would break off. There are currently 2 kits that can be installed in it. 1 is the swich mounting kit. The other is a rubber bellows on shaft of dispenser lever to keep moisture out.
