In my new house being built, I have a 6 * 4 Walk in closet room. The electrical ceiling light not in the center of the room as in other rooms but about a foot from the wall close to the door. The reason the contractor gave when I asked him is that it the new code. How can I know the new code and is it correct?.

Any help with this is appreciated.
