Stanley 1/3 HP vintage 1992. Suddenly lost the chain drive. Motor can be heard still running on command, but evidently not engaging the drive. Can I repair this?

Have you taken a look at it? It might be something simple, like the chain has jumped off the gear. Chains get loose over time.
The only way to find out if you can do it is to try. Always disconnect it from power before taking anything apart.
