Is 24 inches the standard for dishwashers? The only area I have to put one in is about 21 or 22 inches - unless we take out a cabinet and move our sink over, at which point everything would be off centered?

Dishwashers come in 18", 24" (the usual) and a couple in 30" wide models. The North American 18" models (Frigidaire, GE, Kenmore, etc.) are built by Frigidaire. Miele makes one which is imported from Europe and there are a couple which are imported from the far East.

BTW. You should probably prepare yourself for the premium price of these smaller models. I assume it is due to their limited sales rather then the material which goes into making them.
