Help! My Whirlpool inside dishwasher panel is held in place by two screws, one of which is lost. The Whirlpool company said that "that manufacturer is no longer making that screw." Where in the world do I find a replacement screw, folks?? I appreciate any ideas on this one! Lisa

I suggest you take the sample of the original you have to a local (well stocked) hardware store and see if they can match something close. I don't imagine there's anything too special about it besides maybe being stainless steel so it doesn't rust.

Thanks, but I already tried that and the screws don't look anything like the one I need. The threads are really unusual.

what is different about it? Is it a machine thread ot a coarse thread? Is it hex head or it it phillips? What length is it> how long are the threads?

It has a phillips head which is fairly standard. The smooth shank is 3/4" long and the threads are spiral but are spaced closer together than the other screws I saw at the store. In fact, there appears to be double the threads. It must be a machine screw, I know it is't a wood screw. The whole screw is just under 2" long and is fairly skinny. It attaches the plastic lining to the sheet metal part of the door on the inside of the dishwasher. The hardware store person said he'd never seen one like it before.

Than I suggest you *take a sample* to a local appliance parts depot or servicer to see if they can suggest a replacement.
