my stove has three prong cord to it,but my outlet is four prong, can i change this at the stove, or do i need to run new wireing.
the extra wire is a green wire,and there is no green wire coming out from the back of my stove. please help!!!

Hello cworth,
You will need a new 4-wire "pigtail" cord, available at any home improvement store.
This will replace the 3-wire from the back of the stove. The one you purchase will plug in to the 4-wire outlet.
Be sure to get a RANGE cord (50 amp)...dryer cords (30) amp may look similar.
Take note where the old 3-wire is hooked up to. The 4-wire is the same terminals plus the ground (green) which should attach to the range's frame. Check the owner's manual; there should be a terminal for ground.
Obviously, PLEASE take proper precautions here; there is lots of amperage in a range circuit.
