I have a 1953 Wedgewood gas oven, which was working perfectly,until recently I had to shut off the gas. Now the oven won't come on, even with the pilot lit. No problem with the burners, but the oven and broiler will not come on when I turn the knob on. I

Even when not on, the top of our Wedgewood oven is hot to the touch! Is this normal? There is quite a large flame from the pilot light in the burner compartment!!
