I have a General Electric side-by-side TFX24R refrigerator (1991 installation) with an icemaker that has developed a leak on the dispenser in the door. My wife has placed a cup to catch the drip and it fills up daily. The icemaker seems to be working correctly and it has been relatively problem free over the years.

I have never worked with this sort of problem. Is there an easy solution here that I can repair? If so, how do I get started on this?

Hi,

**icemaker that has developed a leak on the dispenser in the door. My wife has placed a cup to catch the drip and it fills up daily.**

Is it really the icemaker dripping or is it the chilled water dripping??

The icemaker could over fill and leak, chilled water could also leak.

Freezer temp ok?

If the incomming house water pressure is too low the fill valve can stay open and dribble some water in all the time, but I'd think the icemaker would fill up the ice bin with water if it was leaking.

** General Electric side-by-side TFX24R**

That is -part- of the full model#.

Need to have a peek and confirm what/where the drip is comming from.

You are right about the water dispenser. There is no indication that the problem stems from the icemaker itself. The drip is from the spout and is not particularly cold.

The door label reads TFX24R, TFXW24R.

Sales label...only the model and serial "tag" has the correct info.

Some model# helps.

-Sounds- possible the fill valve may be dribbling a little water past or extra low pressure ( clogged screen or clogged shut off valve ) is entering the fill valve and this low pressure can prevent the fill valve from closing fully.
