I have a Maytag side-by-side MSD2756DEW and have spent over $300 on several repair visits on the ice maker in the last six months --- and it still quits working. I just want to remove the danged thing. I am a senior woman with a few fixit skills but need help in knowing how to remove ice maker but still keeping the water to the spigot in the freezer door. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!! Thaks so much ~~~

The icemaker has nothing to do with the water dispenser. Doing something with one should not affect the other... besides the main water supply to the whole fridge.

To remove the icemaker, its wiring harness would have to be unplugged from where it plugs into the cabinet wall. There should then be two screws into the freezer wall just above the ice mold, holding it in place. It should be possible to just loosen those screws (not remove the completely) and then just lift the icemaker up off them and away from the wall and then out.

JFYI

Hi all,

Just a small addition to removing the icemaker.

Completely remove the ice bin first, completely remove the screw under the icemaker that holds the icemaker to the freezer wall. Grab ahold of the icemaker and turn out/twist the bottom of the icemaker ( to the right - facing the icemaker ) and pull down, it unclips from the plastic holders above the icemaker. No screws above the icemaker on this style. Then unplug the wire harness for the icemaker.

Thanks for the correction.

I guess using less screws on the icemaker saves 0.00001¢ per appliance? That can add up!

Not to mention that screws rarely break...plastic clips usually always break = part sales ;)
