Hello, I am considering refinishing some 4 year old oak kitchen cabinets that have a golden finish with varish (or some type of clear coating). I would like to stain the oak a medium brown color, but am wondering how much work it is to strip/sand professionally finished cabinets down to the bare wood. I want to make sure that the darker stain will be able to penetrate the oak. How much wood would have to be removed before they could be restained?

What would be the best way to approach this project? Chemical strippers and sanding, or just sanding? Thanks for any advice!!

This project could easily be done with PEEL AWAY 6 or 7. It will keep the natural color of the wood and either no or a mimimum of sanding will have to be done.
