I have a Kenmore Washer (70 Series) that will not drain. It will wash but it will not click over to drain or spin - any suggestions?

** Kenmore Washer (70 Series) **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the washer you have. What is needed is the appliance's *model number* as pritned on the washer's model and serial number tag ("70 Series" isn't it) so we can find out what design of washer it is.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number tag on your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my site linked below.

** it will not click over to drain or spin **

You mean the timer isn't advancing into the spin cycle (or past it)?

If so, that might just be caused be a defective lid switch or lid switch actuator or a possibly problem in the timer.

If not, please clarify exactly what is or is not happening and when.

You are correct. The timer will not advance to the next cycle (drain, or then to spin).

It is a Syle Master #909961, Serial #CG383777, Model #110.26712693

Thank You.

That might just be caused by a defective lid switch or lid switch actuator. Those should be the first things to check.

** It worked. **

Which did, replace the lid switch or repair the switch's actuator?

Just curious.

It was the lid switch that had to be replaced. Over a period of time, it seemed that it had weakened. The brackets that the screws bore into broke, thereby causing the switch itself to fall apart.

Thanks again!

Hello, I'm new here and I'm having the same problem as the guy above with my washer. I'm trying to change the same part but my machine model # is 22712100 and the problem I'm having is getting the top off so that I can replace the part. It looks as though I'll need to take the entire back panel but I'm hopeing I don't have to go that far.

Is there a way to get the top off without taking the entire back panel off?

Thanks so much for any advise

** my machine model # is 22712100 **

The complete model number looks to be 110.22712100 making it a Whirlpool built 'direct drive' model.

** the problem I'm having is getting the top off so that I can replace the [lid switch]. **

I would imagine you would have trouble there since the top is NOT designed to come off of that design of washer. The whole cabinet is removed (or just tilted forward) for most internal component service (see the following link).

You can see the lid switch for your washer model at this link.

JFYI
