Ok, I thank you for your help, and I've got the new peice installed and it's back together. Now the problem is, it still will not drain or spin.

I'm guessing that I've installed it incorrectly or that there is another problem. Any suggestions?

Before I replaced the old part, it would spin if I put a screw driver into the whole to activate the lid switch. But now that the part is back on, it will not do it at all.

I'm sure It's something that I've done as I don't think I have the wrong part. Thanks again.

there is a plastic pin that activates a switch when you close the lid.

check to make sure the pin did not break.

if the pin did not break then you have a bad safety switch.

my washer did the same think. and allthough i dont advise it you can disconnect the safety swith and that will fix your problem. thats what i did.

Where do you find this info on/in the washer?

** Where do you find [the model and serial number] on/in the washer? **

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my web site linked below.

The washer works fine up to the point where it is supposed to drain. The timer moves along no problem. Only when we get to the drain point it does nothing. I have tried it lid up and down, pushing down on the switch, and when it is supposed to go to drain mode I hear a click and nothing happens. No sound, nothing. I have blown into the drain hose to see if there is a clog, none so far.

Is this also a switch issue?

If the timer stop moving at that point and never moves further on its own, the switch is a possibility... depending on the exact model of washer in question ("70 Series" isn't it).
