I have a Kenmore 80 series washer (Model 110.27812692) that overflows. It won't shut off to move to aggitate. It also does this during the rinse cycle. Everything else seems to work fine. Does anyone know, would this be the pressure switch or the timer?

Thanks,

Scott

Sounds like the pressure switch. Read this thread. (All three pages)http://www.bobvila.com/BBS/Appliances/2959/2959/flat-page1.html You will learn everything you ever wanted to know about pressure switches.

** Does anyone know, would this be the pressure switch or the timer? **

A problem in the water lever control (aka 'pressure switch') or the air supply tubing to it, are good possibilities. The timer is unlikely to cause an overfilling condition on its own as the water level control should shut it off even if the timer failed (see the following link).

If the tubing to it is Ok, there's a good chance the control may be defective and need to be replaced. At least the one for your model isn't very expensive - if needed.

BTW. Whirlpool built washers like yours is aren't nearly as susceptible to the kind of problem the Hotpoint washer at the previously suggested link suffered.... but would be good idea to check for such a failure anyway.

JFYI

Thanks DanO!

My friend and I popped off the control panel and sure enough, just as you and others had suggested - it was the load limit switch/tube - the tube had popped off the load limit switch. simple fix and saved me at least $27!
