How can I rewire my Drip coffee maker and toaster to work in the USA. I bought it in England and they were made in France. The makere is Swan and they are wired for 240 and 250? Help!

Both of those use heating elements and in most cases they are designed and made for the specific voltage and can't be modified.

You would not be able "rewire" them work on the regular 120 volt North American power supply but you could use a transformer (see the following link) or you *might* be able to connect them to a North American 240 volt circuit (if you have one or get one installed) if the appliances have NO timing devices built in.

- Step Up Transformers

LINK > http://www.220-electronics.com/Transformers/trans/twowaytrans.htm

If they have timing devices built in, the 60 hz power available here will cause 50 hz timers to run at the wrong speed.

If either have built-in electronic controls, all bets are off.

PS. If you went to a transformer, make sure you get one large enough to handle their power draw. As Bill said, both those appliances have heaters which are likely to draw considerable amounts of power.

You might want to check with the appliance manufacturers to see what they say.

I checked out the transformer and its rather costly. I was hoping to be able to replace the who insides including heating element, hot plate, etc. (coffee maker).

I'm sure it can but whether you can get a replacement one rated for 120 volts, you'd have to ask the manufacturer (whomever that is).

But, are there no other electrical parts of the appliance which might also be affected?

Thank you for your help. I'm surprised that it is so involved in using small appliances from another country. I only wanted these two appliances because of the color. Can't find any in that color under $100 each. It looks like I'll be changing my kitchen color or settle for simple white. Again thanks for all your help.

What color? You can find toasters in various colors for under $50 at the following link:

yellow not a curb yellow just a nice yellow. Hamilton Beach makes has a coffee maker=$99.00 and toaster=$69.00. I've seen on Ebay the feastaware but that toaster is a poor design dosen't toast evenly. I'll stick to white and be happy

I don't see too much variety available in yellow small kitchen appliances I'm afraid. You can see one toaster you didn't mention towards the end of the following link although it looks like a professional model and more expensive.

Maybe some parts of white ones can be painted the colour you would like? If not the whole thing, maybe just some edges to help them fit into your dacor?
