Just to let you know, the door kit (12002468) worked like a charm. The door closes with much better authority and is truly flush with the upper panel.

The door liner replacement took a little doing (disassembly of the older liner parts and reusing them with the new liner, e.g. insulation, silver strip reattachment, etc.) Just take it slow and pay attention to what you removed when reinstalling.

In hindsight, I suspect just the door hinge kit would have done the trick, but like I said earlier... I wanted to fix it once.

I have had this same problem with my Jenn-Air oven since we bought this house 4 months ago. Oven was put in by previous owners in about 2006. I called for service under the home warranty. They replaced the hinges, but that did nothing. Door still sticks out about a half inch and the light often stay on unless you push the door closed and let off gently. My model number is JMW9530CAB. Would this use the same kit as the JJW9530?

The following kit is the one for Jenn-Air oven model JMW9530CAB with problems of the oven door not closing fully and/or failing to activate the light switch.

Thanks for the above! Unfortunately those parts are out of stock at the site you provided.

The hinges were just changed on this oven last week to no avail. I take it it is the brackets that come with the kit that make difference in the door closing properly? Do you think these are available seprately and would you have Whirlpool part numbers since the website you show does not have these part availalbe?

** Unfortunately those parts are out of stock **

It usually only takes a couple of days (the site says 5 - 6) to replenish stock... unless the manufacturer is out of them as well. In that case everyone is at the mercy of the manufacturer.

** The hinges were just changed on this oven last week to no avail. I take it it is the brackets that come with the kit that make difference in the door closing properly? **

The brackets are probably necessary as well however I don't know if the hinges supplied in the kit are different in some way than what you already had installed (which I assume are just the original ones called for by model number).

** Do you think these [brackets] are available separately **

The brackets from the kit may possibly be available separately although I do not know their part number. Try contacting Maytag/Whirlpool to see if they can tell you.

You can see the original ones used on your model at the link below. Again I do not know if the ones supplied in the kit have been upgraded in any way from the originals.

JennAir is notorious for oven door problems, and JennAir also is notorious for denying the problem exists. Regardless, after the authorized JennAir/Whirlpool repairman could not solve the problem of the doors on a wall oven not closing properly, even after replacing hinges, door gaskets, and light switches, I found the answer on the internet.

The problem is that the hinge brackets/receptacles wear out and require replacement when replacing the hinges themselves. This is a defect, because there is absolutely no justification for something as basic as a hinge bracket to wear out. Here's an article written by a repairman who does a good job explaining the problem and enabled me to figure out how to solve it: http://www.bishopandsonappliancerepair.com/2010/06/jenn-air-wall-oven-hinge-problems/.

The hinge brackets are cheap and easy to replace. I did it myself. I bought the brackets for $7 each (two for each door). Replacing them took about 30 minutes.
