I'm going to relocate my gas dryer. While I've always worked with black pipe as a gas feed, I'm hearing more people are using the yellow sleeved soft copper so they don't have to deal with so many joints. Is this type feed appropriate, and what dimension copper tube would be recommended for a typical dryer?

The yellow selved stuff is corregated stainless steel tubing (CSST). It can only be purchased by plumbers that have been certified by the manufacture.

You might find one (or a supply house) that will make up a section with fittings (that is what needs the certification) to your lenght.

Soft drawn copper tubing is allowed in some locations and not in others. You need to check. It uses flaired fittings.
