My som recently replaced whatever it took to get the agitator in my washer to spin, etc... Now the upper, smaller agitator has stopped working. Unfortunately, I don't have my son's help this time. I found Kenmore's site with a diagram and parts #s. I would like to try to repair this myself although I'm a newbie at appliance repair. Does anybody have any suggestions? Any help is greatly appreciated. Blonde but Bright!!!!

Hi, Jeff!
Can you tell me how I can determine which of the two items you listed I will need?
Also, this is probably a silly question but can you tell me how to remove the top of the agitator? Unfortunately, my ex-husband took all the paperwork and I no longer have a booklet or any information other than what is printed on the machine.
Again, thanks for your continued help and time.

Most agitator come off by grasping the shaft and with a hard tug/pull upwards should make it come off.
If the agitator was not spinning leads me to think the "agitator coupling" up inside the top of the "agitator assembly" is worn out and needs to be replaced.
God Bless.

Both are for the same model, one just comes with more pieces/parts than the other kit. Neither are very expensive, the kit with the most parts would cover the most bases.

Pry the very top of the agitator off with a flat screwdriver or putty knife.

Some parts breakdowns that may help as well...

Each looks to contain a different size cam. The kit with the longer cam looks to be the correct one for a Kenmore model 110.26812690 - did the OP check the washer model number?? as that model is different than what was originally posted.

Hi, Jeff!
My Model # is 110.266812690
Thanks for the information regarding the use of a screwdriver to remove the top of the agitator. My exhaustive efforts to remove the fabric softener dispenser by hand ended without results except bruised toes from kicking the front of the machine. :)
I also noticed there were two versions of parts available. One contained more than the other. My confusion results from which of the two I might need. Are they for different washers or the same machine but include additional parts? I don't want to purchase the wrong one but am willing to buy extra parts in the event I might need them.
Again, I am requesting your help as my discouragement and a great desire to bang my head against the washer may have the same results as kicking the machine!
