I just purchased a Kenmore Elite Washing Machine with calypso washing action. I am reading different posting on this website and I am beginning to think I made a mistake. I am hoping that Sears has improved this product. Someone please advise me if I have done the right thing. thank You

Unfortunately, I bought this machine, from Sears in July of 2001. I live alone and do very little wash as compared to when was raising my family. I spent over $900 for it and today the Sears repairwoman told me it would be $475 to repair it. This is outragious considering it was a top of the line machine!

Is there a class action lawsuit against Kenmore? Per the repairwoman, they now make a new pump but it has a smaller passageway for the water that drains, thereby increasing the failure rate. No doubt it was cheaper for Kenmore to avoid fijxing the problem, but how fair was that to those of us who paid good money in good faith?

I am now experiencing leaking issues with my machine. Fixed it once via sears home repair and it started leaking again. I have learned a valuable lesson when buying a washer. Forget the bells and whistles; they never live up to the hype. Buy cheap and just replace it an 5-10 years. My machine just went out of warranty so I am stuck with the repairs, as Sears doesn't do much. Have contacted the law office that handled the prior class action to see if there are any other actions being considered. I would suggest that if you start to have problems go to as many blog sites as you can and spread the word Also the attorneys general in your state as well as consumer protection sites is also good place to contact. For the amount of money we paid for our washer and dryer set the washer is nothing but a piece of junk.

The Sears name just doesn’t live up to what you’d expect

I am so disappointed in the washing machine. We have had to get it repaired numerous times throughout the years. Now,it is leaving grease marks on the clothes that we cant get out. We had the repairman come and he said I was using too much fabric softener!!! I dont use fabric softener,I use the bounce sheets in the dryer. I was so angry that they tried to blame it on me and it was the machine!!!! Now,it continues to leave the marks and I guess I will have to buy a new machine. It won't be from Sears though unless they finally agree it is their product at fault. Sorry this is so long, but I am upset!!!!!!
