Hi, just wondering, is there a way to change a gas hook-up in the house to an electric hook-up for the dryer. I have an electric dryer, but am moving to a place with gas hook-up. How do I change this, and about how much does it cost on average?

A gas dryer operates on a regular 120 volt circuit, an electric dryer operates on 240 volts. A new 240 line would need to be installed right from the fuse box if one doesn't already exist (provided the fuse box has the capacity to carry the extra circuit). Call an electrician.

The gas line can just be capped off if it isn't needed.

Thank you, my husband is in Iraq right now, so I'm clueless about this stuff! Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it!
