I don't know anywhere where you'll get installation instructions. You can however see exploded parts views of your model fridge at the following link. I don't know how much they'll help though.

Dan

I nned your help one more time. The auger seems to be held in place by a washer at the back of the ice bucket. The washer is

" C " shaped and does not move. It seems like if I remove this washer then I can unscrew the old auger. Does this make sense ?

How do I remove the existing washer ?

Thanks

Tom

** the auger seems to be held in place by a washer at the back of the ice bucket. The washer is "C" shaped and does not move. **

There looks to be a "E-Ring" (aka "C-Clip") on that shaft (see the following link).

Those usually get 'pried' off of what they're attached onto, in the direction opposite the open side of the clip. Maybe a very small screwdriver can be used? I doubt you'd be able to get pliers onto it.

I have the identical problem with my GE icemaker and was told the same thing by the GE repairman. Does not seem right that a new refrigerator should deliver rusty ice unless you scrub the auger once a week. They know the auger will get 'wet' so it should be designed to be water proof. Heavy duty plastic might be a better design.

I know I'm a little late, however, my GE has the same problem. The auger is rusty. In fact the whole ice bin is having some issues. Rather than simply replace the auger, I'd like to replace the entire ice bin (not the ice maker, just the bin). Does anybody know the part number?

Thanks

We can't even check to see if such an assembly is available for it without your refrigerator's complete model number taken *from the appliance itself*. If you post that information we'll try to look into it for you.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

I have a GE monogram refrigerator model: Z1SW42EMB serial: HD031201. the auger arm chrome is pitted and rusty which makes the ice maker useless as the rust and chrome flakes get on the ice. can i get a replacement the auger with one that is made of plastic instead of chrome plated steel like the one it came with? the model number is ZISW42EMB

No. All that's available is what GE supplies (see the following link).

They may by now however have changed what material it is made from due to so many of the same complaints. Hopefully the replacement may fair better than the original.
