I have a Whirlpool top load clothes washer that stops working in midcycle. I believe that the safety switch that wont allow operation while the top door is open needs to be reset. I think this because when I slam the door shut or bang on the top...it starts working again.
On my older washers...there was a pin that protruded down from the door that pushed a lever to allow the washer to work. There is no such pin on this model. I believe it must be located under the top layer by the hinge assembly.
Does anyone have any advice on how to get to such hinge assembly and how I could either fix or bypass that switch?

Hi,

Most can't be "reset", but on some of the WLP built washers a bad lid switch will prevent the spin and drain from occuring and the timer oftne stops advancing if the lid switch is bad.

Without a model#, no one may know what style yours looks like.
