That would depend on the exact model of GE dishwasher you have. ("Potscrubber 650" isn't it)

The dispenser on that model is opened via a lever which runs off a cam on the timer. There could be a problem in that lever, the timer cam but more commonly a problem with the spring attached to the leaver.

where do I get a diagram on how the spring should fit? Cup won't open because the door was yanked off and the spring has sprung.
