We are replacing our gas stove but cannot undo the coupling at the wall or on the stove. Is there a way to dissolve the pipe thread compound to make this easier?

G'day,
**Is there a way to dissolve the pipe thread compound to make this easier?**
Not that I am aware of....but one of the chaps that I work with uses a little WD40 once in a while.
I usually try to tighten the connection a bit first to help break it free before trying to undo the connection.
