I noticed as it ran that it sounded like it was working hard. Went into the laundry room, slight smell of burned rubber or burnt motor. Washer finishes right as I walk in. Tub is still full of water. I turned it to spin, it spins, but slowly, doesn't drain a drop. Seems that it would go faster if it drained. I pulled off the front cover, then the hose leading to the pump, it spewed water, pulled off hose leading away from the pump, it spewed water. Looks like the pump is direct drive to the motor, what do I do?

** [Amana washer] model NAV2330AWW... sounded like it was working hard. Tub is still full of water... [didn't] drain a drop. smell of burned rubber or burnt motor. **

If the pump (see the following link) is defective and causing the draining problem, it will likely need to be replaced. If the pump or one of the washer's hoses is just plugged (maybe with a stray article of clothing?) preventing it from draining, try to clear it/them.

If the belt was damaged from trying to spin while still full of water, it should likely be replace. It will be damaged before the motor will, in such a case.

If needed, there is a service manual available that that design of washer:

Took the pump off, there is a small sock jammed in there. Can't get it out and it appears that the drive shaft stripped out the pump too, so have to find a new one. Thanks for the help.

Now you know where all those missing socks go. ;)

Glad to hear you've isolated the problem. Thanks for the follow up.
