Hi,

Probably need to yank hard on the door to get it open and then replace the broken pieces. Hopefully just a new lock and latch.

Don't forget to get the model# once the door is open so you can get the correct parts.

this advice was given & worked thank you very much

My HE3T is 2 years old. Having same issue. To release door, remove front panel. There are three hex screws directly under door and to each side. You will find taped to the side of the machine another manual. Directly below the door lock you will find a pull release. I found this out after pulling on the door and damaging the door latch.

My understanding from other posts, if you unplug the machine from the wall for appox 35 minutes, the controls will release. I found this site after the fact.

**My HE3T is 2 years old.**

This is a Whirlpool built Kenmore.

**kenmore by frigidaire**

Different style washer, no pull cords on the Frigidaire built Kenmore.
