I am having a drain probelem with my Maytag Atlants washer. If I do a normal washer everything is fine.

However if I do a wash using the extra rinse option when I open the lid the tub is full of water. Again I reset without the extra rinse the water drains correctly.

Any idea what is going on ?

Update now the washer will not spin and rinse after the regular cycle.

When the washer is finished the tub is full of water.

On the selection knob when it get to spin it goes right thru the spin cycle with a small clicking sound. Sometimes if a play with the knob I can get the spin cycle to engage and clothes come damp.

The earliest repair date I can get is next friday.

Is there anything we can do fix it ourselves.

I do the washer spins in other cycles just not the last spin cycle.
