My Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 series recently started stopping in mid programme! I checked the outlet with other electrical appliances and it is OK, I plugged the washer into another outlet and it still acts up. I played around with turning it on and off and moving the programme knob around and could get it to come on in various programme positions but it never would finish a programme, and when it did finally spin the clothes it did a bad job of it! I took the knobs/panel off and there are quite a few different contraptions in there. Any ideas? I can probably replace whatever piece is dead, if I can just figure out which is which. HELP ME, I HAVE A KENNEL AND THE DOGGY TOWELS ARE PILING UP!

** Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 series [washer] **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its complete model number ("70 series" isn't it).

You can find tips for locating the model number identification tag on your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my web site linked below.

** recently started stopping in mid programme! **

At *exactly* what point?

Did just the motor stop or did the timer stop advancing too??

Model number is 110 9127800

It will stop in various points in the program, wash, spin, rinse, spin, doesn't seem to be any ryhme or reason to it. The timer stops advancing.

The only other problem I have had with it is about two years ago the agitator would not go "back and forth" only "back" in all but the regular program. It was no big deal to me to just use the regular program since them.

thank you for any help you might have.

** 110 9127800 **

I'm afraid I can find no listing for such a model number. It looks too short by a digit or two. Can you double check it?

This is a USA model??

Than maybe there's a problem in the timer? If the timer's motor was getting power but the timer not advancing, it would definitely be defective.

That's unusual because that function is usually controlled by the transmission. The same transmission is used for all cycles so if it worked on one it should work on the rest.

** NUMBER IS 110.91278100 **

That's better.

There doesn't look to be anything special about that model so my previous statement stands; If the timer's motor was getting power but the timer not advancing, it would definitely be defective and need to be replaced.
