I have a GE XL44 gas range (model number JGBP35GEP6WG) that the oven just stopped working. The top burners and the broiler still work. When you turn the oven on, there is a click but I do not smell gas or see anything light up. What could be the problem??

Hi,
**When you turn the oven on, there is a click but I do not smell gas or see anything light up. What could be the problem??**
Is the bake ignitor working?
The hot surface ignitor could be weak and not glowing hot enough to open the gas valve, could be dead from a bad ignitor, could be dead from not getting any power from a bad wire or a bad control. Checking the bake ignitor is the place to start :)

What is the best way to check (test) whether there is a problem or not with the bake ignitor?
Thanks again for the help!

Ignitor can be checked for continuity...the best way is carefully with live power and a volt meter. Power to the ignitor ( 110-120 volts AC) and no go = bad ignitor, no power to the ignitor and start looking elsewhere.
