My 3 year old stack (washer/dryer) will not agitate. It will fill with water and then stop.I manualy move it into agitate by turning the know abd it will only drain. The modle is 417.94702300. I took the panle off and was thinking of replacing the timer/washer modual hoping this will fix it ?

A washer will not spin unless it can detect that the lid is closed, as a safety precaution. That is done using a 'lid switch' (see the link below). If there was a problem in that switch or in its actuator, your symptom could occur.

I dont think it is the lid switch.the washer will go into spin cycleand will stop if I open the lid.My washer will fill with water then stop.It will not advance into the wash cycle (agitate).I slowly turn the knob but it will then go into the drain cycle.

Sorry, I misread your original message.

The water level control is responsible for switching the water off once full and then switching power to the wash system. It could be that the contacts for the wash function are not working properly.

- How does a washer's water level control work?

I replaced the timer/washer and also blew out the plastic line to the water level control and it still will not go into agitate mode.I can turn the agitator counter clock wise but it will not go clock wise? Should it? I guess I will have to bow my head in shame and call a professional :(

** I replaced the washer timer **

Why?

** also blew out the plastic line to the water level control **

Great but did you check to see if the control was switching properly?? That is what I indicated the problem could be.
