My whirpool washer would not go into spin and rinse cycles. I noticed the lid switch cracked so I cut it out and connected the wires together. Now it aggitates through the whole cycle never rinses or drains or spins. But and the end of the cycle if I start it again a little later in the cycle it will fill again then drain and rinse and spin. I have to basically do every load twice. I am assuming the timer is no good. But I am wondering if it is just out of whack like a dishwasher timer and if there is any way to reset it. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . Thanks in advance Howie my email is howie11725@yahoo.com

** whirpool washer **

Whirlpool has sold many different designs and models of washers over the years. The only way we can find out which one you're dealing with is if you post its complete model number.

You can find tips for locating the model number identification tag on your appliances in the 'Repair Parts' section of my web site linked below.

** I cut out [the lid switch] and connected the wires together. **

It is not a good idea to bypass an appliance's safety device.

** it agitates through the whole cycle never rinses or drains or spins. **

The most common Whirlpool washer design must pause the motor between wash and drain. Is it?

I bypassed the switch to see if that was the problem. I ordered a new one. I turned the timer about 15 times and then it started working properly thank you
