I recently started renting a property that came with a washer and dryer. I am not familiar with the Kenmore 70 Heavy Duty Series (110.92573210, stock 25732). During the washing cycle, I opened the door and the agitation did not stop, but consisted only of the center pole rotating, not the entire bowl. The spin cycle worked but the clothes were not clean in the end. I'm assuming it is broken?

** Kenmore [washer] 110.92573210 **

** During the washing cycle, I opened the door and the agitation did not stop **

It won't on older machines, only newer ones. The lid switch originally just stopped the spin as a safety precaution.

** [agitation] consisted only of the center pole rotating, not the entire bowl. **

What are you referring to by the "bowl"? The tub? The agitator? The agitator base? The agitator top??

The tub does not move during the wash cycle, only the "agitator" and so it just slowly pushes clothes from the top of the load to the bottom.

The tub isn't supposed to move during a wash cycle, only spin.

** so it just slowly pushes clothes from the top of the load to the bottom. **

Is the top section of the agitator spinning freely? It should ratchet in one direction only.
