I recently purchased a used 4-5 year old Kenmore 70 series washer (model/serial below) and discovered it won't progress through the rinse/drain cycle. After some investigation, I found the lid switch had broken off the screws and was dangling below the housing. I was able to pull it up and manaully depress the switch to drain the tub, but now need to replace the switch.

My question is what's the easiest way to remove the housing to access and replace the switch? Now that I have the problem idetified I hate to spend $100+ to have someone out to fix it!

Model: 110. 20702 991

Serial: CL0634834

Type: 111

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You can read one way it might be done at the following link and see the actual replacement lid switch for your model at the second link below.

Thanks for the help! The lid switch replacement was a piece of cake once I figured out how to crack into the cabinet.

I've just replaced the lid switch in my Kenmore model 110.20702991 as it would fail to spin during the final spin cycle and this seemed to be a logical step. Sadly, the replacement of the switch didn't resolve the problem and the washer is still not spinning during the spin cycle. It spins when we set it directly to the spin cycle after it's gone through the entire wash cycle. Can you assist?
