Our gas dryer doesn't heat up anymore. It was fine and then the next day, nothing. The ignitor works, but after you hear a "click", nothing happens. Vague discription, but best I can do. Model #dg482, Serial # 392937, Series 7 (in case any of those numbers help). Any suggestions?

** The ignitor works, but after you hear a "click", nothing happens **

By "nothing happens", do you just mean no flame is produced?

What is the ignitor doing at that time? Glowing still, not glowing??

If not glowing, does it stay off from then on or does it continually cycle on and off??

** Serial # 392937 **

Not that is is needed for you problem (just curious). Are there no letters in the serial number?

We do not get any flame. The ignitor glows red hot and stays on until the dryer "clicks" and then goes out. No flame and there doesn't seem to be any gas coming out.

The serial number only has 2 X's at the end of the numbers.

Is there a website I can go to that will show me the parts for the dryer and explain what exactly each one does?

Thanks again.

And then what happens? It stays off or continues to cycle on and off in a fairly short period of time??

Not that I'm aware of. You can see exploded parts views for your model at the first link below, read about how a typical dryer gas valve operates at the second and purchase a service manual for your specific dryer design at the third.

Ok. The ignitor glows until the click sound happens (when we should be getting a flame) and then it goes off and stays off. No heat, no flame, no glow. Thanks.

** The ignitor glows until the click sound happens and then it goes off and stays off. **

If the ignitor continued to cycle on and off it would be displaying a classic symptom of a failure of the gas valve's solenoid coils. If the ignitor staying glowing red, a problem in the flame sensor would be likely.

I can't think of any common failure that would cause it to turn off and stay off unless maybe there is a small crack in the ignitor (see the following link) which opens the electrical circuit once it expands as it heats up.

- Gas Burner Ignitor

You could also check the continuity of all the gas valve coils *at the time of failure* to see if any were totally open (infinite resistance aka no continuity) as that would be a sure sign of a failure of it/them.

Other than that, someone might need to confirm power is still getting to the burner assembly at the time of failure to make sure the power stoppage isn't in some part of the dryer's heater control circuit instead of at the burner.
