Hi DanO!, our Model # KUDU03FTSS - dishwasher has started making a lot of noise.

Fill and drain noises are OK. The loud noise starts when dishwasher has filled enough to start washing. Noise is kind of a continuous, loud kind of "grinding" noise. Does not sound too good...

Any ideas, fine Sir? Thanks in advance!

Not sure if this will help.

I don't usually run my Dishwasher on Super hot. So my mechanisms got filled with what looked like "Grease"

I ran it on Hot with nothing in it with the Dawn brand dishwaher cube and it cleaned the gunk.

Interesting. We try and alternate between powder and liquid dishwasher detergent, but lately we've been using primarily powder - I think Costco Kirkland.

We usually use hottest settings and longest cycles - including sanitize. I should mention that the d/w never has worked what I'd call "great".

It would be great if just switching detergent fixed the problem!

** Kitchenaid dishwasher model KUDU03FTSS **

There's no number at the very end of the model number?

** The loud noise starts when dishwasher starts washing. Noise is kind of a continuous, loud kind of "grinding" noise. **

Maybe a foreign object (broken glass, bread bag clip, etc.) has gotten caught in the pump? It might need to be opened and inspected.

** Fill and drain noises are OK. **

Your model uses a separate drain pump so a problem in the main pump wouldn't be reflected when it was draining.

Thanks DanO!

Guess I need to pull it apart and scope it out. Hmmmm, now I need to figure out what exactly is the pump :-)

Sorry about the model number - I will try and get a full number next time around.

Thanks again!
