My GE XL44 oven turns on just fine but turns off by itself while in bake cycle.

** GE XL44 oven **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number ("XL44" isn't it). If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

** oven turns off by itself while in bake cycle. **

What do you mean by "turns off"? The oven just stops heating or the control resets to a non-cooking mode??

Resets to non-cooking mode

The model # is JGBP79BEA1BB

I forgot to mention that the broiler works fine.

I can't think of what could possibly cause that other than a problem in the electronic control itself. :(

** broiler works fine. **

That would likely rule out the possibility of heat from the oven affecting operation of the control.
